Borough Market is one of London's oldest and most renowned food markets, located in Southwark, near London Bridge. With origins dating back to at least the 13th century, it has evolved from a general market into a specialist food and drink market.
It was officially established in its current form in the late 18th century. Borough Market is famous for its high-quality, gourmet food produce. You can find an array of artisanal cheeses, fresh produce, meats, fish, baked goods, street food, and international cuisines. It's celebrated for its diversity and quality of food vendors.
The market's vibrant, bustling atmosphere, with its narrow lanes packed with stalls, creates a sensory experience with sights, smells, and tastes from around the world. It's not just about buying food but also about enjoying it on the spot or tasting samples.
| 位置 | Situated under the shadow of Southwark Cathedral and near the Shard, it's easily accessible and a popular stop for both tourists and locals. |
Some famous dishes there include:
- Bomba Paella - 西班牙海鮮飯
- The Ginger Pig - Sausage Rolls
While the market is closed on Mondays, it has specific trading hours, which are typically Thursday to Saturday, some stalls, especially those selling provisions, might open on other days with reduced hours.
St Michael's Mount is a small tidal island in Mount's Bay, Cornwall, England, connected to the mainland by a cobbled causeway which is passable at low tide. The island has been the site of a priory since the 11th century and is crowned by a medieval church and castle, dedicated to St Michael, mirroring Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy, France, with which it shares a legendary connection.
Its dramatic setting, with the castle perched atop a rocky outcrop, makes it one of Cornwall's most iconic landmarks. The island's natural beauty and the causeway, which is submerged at high tide, give it an almost mystical aura. Over centuries, it has served various functions, from a monastic site to a fortification during the English Civil War. The St Aubyn family has owned it since the 17th century, though the National Trust now manages public access.
Visitors can explore the castle, its gardens, and learn about its history. The island features a small village with homes for the roughly 30 residents. The gardens, which host subtropical plants, are particularly noted for their beauty. St Michael's Mount combines history, legend, and natural beauty, offering a unique experience where visitors can step back in time while enjoying one of Cornwall's most picturesque settings.
